What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional Radiology (IR) is the use of medical imaging techniques to conduct minimally invasive procedures. IR allows for complex tasks to be performed through tiny skin openings, advancing catheters, guide wires, or needles to deep targets within the body while minimising damage to surrounding tissues. This keyhole approach is often referred to as "minimally invasive," and for good reason. Patients typically experience quicker healing, no visible scars, and a much shorter stay in clinic.
IR addresses many of today’s most challenging medical issues, including vascular diseases, various cancers, and other health conditions, all with minimal discomfort and exceptional precision.
